About the journal

Who writes this, how a piece gets made, and what it is for.

A small desk of old books, worn maps and sketches of ancient statues
Why we started

Legends Carved in Ancient Stone

We kept writing the same notes to each other after every walk and eventually stopped pretending that was not a journal. The first issue went to eleven people.

How a piece gets made

Old Books of Forgotten Folklore

Every piece starts on the ground and is checked by someone who has been there. A claim that cannot survive a second walk does not stay in.

How we work

Legends of the Old Oak

01

The Weeping Statue

Nothing gets described unless one of us stood in front of it.

02

Whispers from Myths

The failed mornings stay in. They are usually the useful part.

03

An Ancient Book of Lore

Mistakes get fixed on the page, with a note on what changed.

Stories Told Around Winter Fires

One long read and one short field note, sent the morning they go out.
